Which materials deserve explicit explanation?

EPA names wood, drywall, carpeting and furnishings among materials that may remain wet. Ask an assessor which material was identified at your property, whether it can be dried, and what evidence supports keeping or replacing it. EPA's flood guidance should not be applied mechanically to every smaller plumbing event.

How does the provider explain completion?

Ask what was checked after the proposed work and what remains outside the inspected area. A provider should distinguish the drying scope from reconstruction; a surface that looks different after water removal is not a moisture test. Do not move cabinets, open wall finishes or handle wet appliances to collect your own measurements.

Stay away from the affected area, do not touch electrical switches, outlets or appliances near water, and call a professional. If anyone is in danger, leave the area and call 911.

Which service guide fits the observation?

For water near equipment, consult heater leak questions. For wet cabinetry, see cabinets and walls. Those routes organize questions, not a diagnosis or a certificate of dryness.
