Which tasks may be separate contracts?
A failed heater, wet cabinetry, drying equipment and later finish repair need not be supplied by the same trade. Find out who would perform each task and whether source repair is included. The site itself does not offer a restoration contract.
What would explain a material charge?
Ask which material was observed and which part is dried, removed or replaced. HomeAdvisor supplies national water-category figures and component repair examples; Save The Day publishes regional removal and installation figures for flooring. They should not be added to a provider's total without checking whether the quoted scope already contains those components.
Where do planning figures stop being useful?
The calculator uses a known floor area and provisional category. It excludes cabinetry and cannot verify site conditions. A provider's written assessment should state the actual basis of its figures and how any change in scope would be documented.
What should be checked independently?
California's CSLB lookup lets homeowners check contractor licensing. Ask the insurer about benefits under the policy and the provider about applicable insurance; neither check is performed by this publisher.
Calls go to voicemail, not a live provider. Messages are recorded and transcribed after the greeting. You can email us instead.
